speedo stick
What is a Speedo Stick - Speedo Stick is a useful tool for the Japanese
knitting machines when attaching a Commercial or Swiss Style neck band. Speedo Stick slides along the back
rail as the work progresses. Pull loops
manually down to the stick to insure that the loops to be bound off are of even
and consistent size. It's easy to do once you understand the technique. This was developed to give Japanese machine knitters a great way to make the same type of application that passap knitters know so well. Look at the collar finish in the photo. This is very smooth and evenly finished and it does a great job of hiding the cut and sew neckline. Use it to apply any type of band along any edge of your knitting, even it the edge is not cut and sewn. Don't restrict yourself to ribbing. Make a collar band from fair isle, tuck or racked ribbing. You can even omit the "envelope" if you knit a fold over band. Just remember to knit the bands at a tighter stitch size to it will block out properly.
Speedo Stick can also be used with your KA-8310
bind off linker. Pull loops manually
down to the stick to insure that the loops to be bound off are large enough to
give a flexible bind off edge.
