Iris Bishop describes Kaleidoscope project for 24 stitch punch card and electronic machines.
I believe that 'machine knitting' is one of the most creative methods of textile construction. There are so many unique techniques and so much potential for individual expression and invention.
My Kaleidoscope project is evolved over many years of experimentation with the basic technique of 'holding position'. It is a formula that takes full advantage of this technique to create shape, color and stitch pattern effect, all at the same time, rather than just another collection of patterns.
All types of varieties of yarn can be used to customize the shawls and raps in this collection. I trust you will enjoy using and experimenting with these designs, whether a new or advanced knitter. I am already developing other fabric and garment designs based on these ideas. I hope you will too!
