The Borders and Yokes collection by Iris Bishop: There are only 8 copies remaining.
In this new collection of borders and yokes, I have tried to cover as wide a variety of subjects as possible, from traditional to pictorial themes. Border designs are very versatile because they can be used in many different ways. For example, they can be used simply to add interest to a plain garment, or combined together to produce richly patterned fabrics. This provides plenty of scope as you become more adventurous with your knitting, to add more colours and decoration to the designs. I have drawn some sketches suggesting different ways of using some of the designs, as well as colour and decorative ideas.
Many of the designs are knitted with just two colours, which will be in the scope of a beginner, whereas for more experienced knitters, there are some extra little techniques to try, like the 'overlapping leaves' on page 18.
My method of knitting circular yokes has already created a lot of interest because it involves less manual work than the traditional methods. This means they are quicker to produce which is helpful if you knit for friends or for profit, when time is an important factor!
As with all my other publications, the designs in this book have short 'floats' on the back of the fabric, so that they are practical as well as decorative. I wish you joy with all your knitting exploits.
